Grant Budget & Logic Model Pack
Grant Budget & Logic Model Pack
42 prompts for the two sections that sink applications — a logic model built from your actual programme, and a budget narrative that justifies every line including your overhead.
Key Capabilities & Features:
- •The two sections reviewers scrutinise hardest, which are also the two most applicants write last and fastest
- •Indirect cost treated as something to justify and recover rather than absorb, with apportionment language funders accept
- •A cross-check that reads your budget against your narrative and lists every contradiction — mismatched participant numbers, staff days that do not match the activity, a timeline the budget cannot fund
- •Logic models built from the programme you run rather than reverse-engineered to fill a form, which reviewers can tell apart within a paragraph
This is 2 sections of The Grant Writing Companion. The full toolkit adds 6 more sections and 140 prompts in total for $46.

Architecture & System Overview
Two sections decide more applications than the case for support does: the logic model, and the budget narrative. Both are usually written last, quickly, by someone who has run out of time.
This is the Logic Models & Theory Of Change and Budgets & Budget Narrative sections of The Grant Writing Companion, sold on their own — 42 prompts for people who can already make the case and need these two to hold up.
The budget narrative work is where most small organisations recover money they have been giving away. Under-claiming indirect cost is almost always about awkwardness rather than eligibility, and the result is years of delivering funded work at a loss. The prompts help you apportion overhead defensibly and explain it in a paragraph funders accept.
The cross-check is the other half. A budget and a narrative written by the same person, days apart, will contradict each other in ways that are invisible to that person and immediately visible to a reviewer. Participant numbers that differ between documents. Staff days that do not match the described activity. A timeline the budget cannot fund.
If you also need funder fit, need statements, case for support, outcome measurement or reporting, the full toolkit covers all eight areas.

Recovered overhead we had been eating for years
The apportionment paragraph was the thing. We had never asked, out of a vague sense that it was cheeky. Two funders have now paid it without a single question.
Found three contradictions I could not see
Wrote the budget on Tuesday and the narrative on Thursday. They disagreed on participant numbers and on how many staff days the delivery took. Both mine, both invisible until it listed them.
Two sections, as advertised
It is exactly the logic model and budget material and nothing else. I ended up buying the full toolkit a month later for the reporting section, so consider that first if funds allow.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does this relate to The Grant Writing Companion?
This is 2 sections of The Grant Writing Companion, sold on its own for people who only have this problem. It contains the same 42 prompts as that part of the toolkit — nothing is held back or rewritten. If you need more than these areas, the full toolkit is $46 and covers 8 sections with 140 prompts.
Does this work for any funder?
It works from guidelines you paste in rather than from assumptions about how funders behave. Where a funder caps or excludes overhead, the prompts tell you what the cap permits and where the excluded cost has to appear instead.
Should I buy this or the full toolkit?
This if your applications are being marked down on budget and evaluation rather than on the case itself. The full toolkit if you also need funder fit, need statements, outcome measurement and reporting — it covers all eight areas including these two.
How is it delivered?
A PDF with all 42 prompts, delivered within 24 hours of purchase. Copy, fill in the bracketed variables, and paste into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini.
