Architecture & System Overview
Print-on-demand looks like a design business. It is actually a margins business with a legal tripwire running through it.
The Print-on-Demand Engine is a 134-prompt playbook covering niche selection, design briefs, trademark and rights safety, listing copy and search, mockups and product photos, margins and pricing, suppliers and quality, and returns and customer messages.
Start with the POD Primer — paste in your storefronts, product types, base costs and current margins — and every prompt after it works your actual numbers rather than generic ones.
The trademark section runs before you print rather than after. Ordinary-sounding phrases are registered constantly, in classes that cover apparel, and the consequence is not a removed listing — it is a suspended account with your other products inside it. The prompts tell you what to check, why a phrase is risky, and what to change.
Margin prompts count the things POD sellers routinely leave out: reprints for defects, the return that cannot be resold, shipping across regions, and platform fees. A product at what looks like a healthy margin often is not once the reprint rate is included, and the arithmetic identifies which item you should stop selling.
Note: nothing here is legal advice. The trademark prompts show you how to search and what raises risk, and tell you when a question needs an actual lawyer.

Stopped me printing a registered phrase
A perfectly ordinary four-word saying I assumed was free. It told me exactly which class to search and there it was, registered for apparel. That check alone was worth the price several times over.
My best seller was my worst product
Counting reprints and returns properly showed my highest-volume item was making almost nothing. Raised the price, lost some volume, made more money.
Briefs, not artwork
Clearly stated but worth repeating — you still need to make or commission the design. The briefs are good enough that my illustrator stopped asking follow-up questions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it generate the designs?
No. It writes briefs precise enough to hand to an illustrator or an image model — placement, colour, what must read at thumbnail size — but the artwork is produced elsewhere and by you.
Is the trademark section legal advice?
No, and it is written to be explicit about that. It shows you which registers to search, in which classes, with what terms, and what raises risk. Where a question genuinely needs a lawyer it says so rather than guessing.
I sell on one platform only. Is this over-scoped?
The Primer asks where you sell and the prompts adapt. Multi-region fulfilment and multi-storefront sections will be irrelevant to you; niche selection, design briefs, risk checks, listings and margins will not.
How is it delivered?
You receive a PDF with all 134 prompts organized into 8 sections, delivered within 24 hours of purchase. No app or account required — copy a prompt, fill in the bracketed variables, and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini.
Can I use this for client work?
Yes. Your purchase includes a single-user commercial and personal license, so you can use every prompt in your own business or for client deliverables without restriction.
